It's nothing to do with being PC if offended. This is about the family and friends of someone being held by psychopaths, with a tendency to brutally execute people, hoping against all hope that he'll be freed, alive and well, and some arsehole, who goes into a major strop himself if anyone dares criticise him, thinking it's okay to make a joke about someone being executed.

Connolly is an arsehole. A smug, self-satisfied arsehole. Yes, he can be funny (obviously, since he makes himself laugh sooooooooooooo sincerely before he ever reaches the point of his story), but he also has to have some empathy. I'm bloody sure he wouldn't be cracking jokes if it was a member of his family that was caged and under sentence of death from some machete-happy hoodlum who thinks he's a freedom fighter.

Hes clever enough to know this will give him a bit of publicity and then blow over - people who have been in the business as long as him don't make "thoughtless" comments like this for no reason

I am not condoning what he said by any means it was thoughtless and tasteless all I am saying is that he probably knew he would draw this sort of response

Has anybody actually seen a full quote(other than the BBFC above) of what he said or has it just been dissected and used out of context by the media?
