Very interesting subject matter, I will just add my tuppence worth here:
wasn?t there a case a few years back when one of the supermarkets or one of the rip off merchants had a go at trying to cash in on this by calling there very simlar goods ?jaffa cakes? and being told that this was a copyright issue, they could rip off the cakes but not use the name ...
plus seem to remember something about the name jaffa cakes being misleading, and they were not allowed to sell them in Europe as they were not actually cakes, or am I talking steve56 bollocks.
PEOPLE think Stephen Hawking is so clever, but when you ask him a question and he is typing in the answer on his little screen, how do we know he isn't just looking up the answer on the Internet?

Think you're right, but I can't recall exactly when this was.

Your fajitas? I thought they were Mexican.
Don't you want an electrified fence and a moat filled with alligators along your Southern border to keep all those foreigners?

A good submissive slave should never look his mistress in the face anyway
and theres always just plain Jaffas, infact in the golden age(the fifties) they used to role them down the aisle at the pictures so I've been told
causing merriment for all..small minds....

jaffa cakes in court

Post by Guilbert »

A boring legal debate occured a few years ago about
whether they were a biscuit or a cake.

In UK cakes are VAT free, whereas biscuits are VAT rated.

I think the legal argument came down to whether the
chocolate was put on top of the base, or the base was
offered up to to chocolate.

The things lawyers have to argue about !.

Not sure I know (or care) about the outcome.
