Saddam Hussein.

Post by mart »

I wonder how many of us are thinking "Is that the real Saddam Hussein who appeared in court today?".
If it is and he's still sane/alive when the trial starts he'll have some interesting things to say about military/defence contracts with Western nations.

Mart

PS And before Bimmercat starts his usual rant about France, I'm referring to other countries too.

It looked like the Atkins diet had worked for him anyway! Should be an Interesting case, I dont think there is any way he will be executed, he will probably spend his days in a comfortable dwelling surrounded by security somewhere, which is slightly different to the options he gave to all his victims. 20 highly paid lawyers, and barristers, all trying to make a name for themselves, a case costing millions, and for what! shoot the cunt now, and get it over with, there is no case, the evidence is overwhelming.
Trial my arse!

Quite dapper for a despot, I thought. And that haircut took years off him. Wonder if it'll catch on?

I remember Jeffery Robertson talking about another turd like that saying he would have to spend the rest of his life surrounded by lawyers - which was a form of torture anyway.

I agree the trial is a waste of time from a justice point of view as there will always be one verdict-guilty.

Its a political ploy from the Bush camp just like the handing over of sovereignty to the IRAQis

All designed to show the American Voters that the Republicans exit strategy from IRAQ is alive and well as the death toll rises towards 1000.

Given that IRAQ doesn't currently have the death penalty(I believe) it would seem rather farcical if it were reintroduced just for Saddam

I'd think even the Sunnii would never want to see him back

Be it through the IRAQ/IRAN conflict or brutal Internal Policing there aren't many families in IRAQ that haven't lost someone because of Saddam

If it were a Saddam impostor Mart I think he would have co-operated
by signing all the documents the judge put forward

Don't you?

cheers

I don't think he should buy into any long-term investments, either.
But if the US forces once relinquish guarding him, surrendering him to the Iraqi admin, he'll be out and causing mischief again in no time.

As to proving his direct guilt, he was usually at a remove from the actual giving of orders, acting through intermediaries such as Chemical Ali- so he can claim 'plausible deniability', in the pricelessly cynical US term.
A defence used also by Milosevic/Mladic/Karadzic/in fact most of the tyrants of our age.........

signification...."
