All you need to know is that they work (better than mid-market branded players) and will play almost anything you throw at them.

I could not agree more!!!. My instruction manual for model 1002W says that the signal system is NTSC/PAL, and you can change the output to play to a
NTSC tv or PAL tv, but most modern sets can output either system, so no need to change output on the DVD player. Incidentally the weight of this model is quoted as 2.4Kg so is quite light. The remote measures 220mm long by 40mm wide.

For what it's worth bro, I bought myself a Dansai 952 from Tesco.
Plays everything I throw at it, including Betamax...ok that last bit is a lie.
The only problem with the cheapie players seems to be remotes that are made out of wet cardboard. The battery cover is prone to fuckity upness.
Having said that, the Dansai plays better than my Pioneer.
Go figure!

I bought a cheapie 4 years ago , it's been great , mind you a ?149 cheapie may have a bit more leeway .

Well I payed ?100 for the Dansai which is why I got a good model but shit backed remote.
