Do we know if the Mirror paid for those pics? Might go some way to explaining why anyone would want to perpetrate such a sick hoax.
Otherwise it seems a very odd thing to do.

Yes, Peirs is a tosser, and now he is reaping all the bollocks he has sown. But, let's not shed to many tears, I'm sure he'll be back - maybe spouting a different version of reality as editor of another tabloid. I mean, what if he popped up as editor of the Daily Mail talking all ?back to basics? and metaphorically kicking asylum seekers up the arse? Well, such is the monumental bullshit of tabloid land I wouldn't be at all surprised.

I imagine his sacking has more to do with the possible long-term effects this sorry episode will have on the paper's circulation figure than anything else.

It's recorded on Thursday, so too late for a re-write.

I don't hate Piers, he's an interesting character and we need more of those. It's his bloody mindedness that irritates me, you get the impression he's just causing problems for the sake of it. If he wants to put the boot in the establishment there are plenty of much more relevant issues to the British public - like ID cards, the erosion of our civil liberties, freedom and rights, the explosion of bureaucracy and red tape, and hey, the price of petrol for Christ's sake.

I don't mind Piers causing bollocks, if only he'd cause it over the right issues. Issues that directly affect and threaten the British public.
