Im NOT a fan of Macca, but I wouldn't call his first wife, Linda, a 'Trashy Boiler'. OK, She was a groupie photographer whos pics are VERY sought after now, regardless of her connection to Paul. But She brought up a stable family and was very vocal in bringing animal rights and vegetarianism to the fore through debate and high profile campaigning and NOT by violence or heated demonstations.
She was, by all accounts, a nice person who shunned the party scene, hated the 'luvvie brigade' and was happy cooking for her family and riding her horses.
Heather on the other hand IS a trashy boiler who is a gold-digger who KNOWS she will be VERY VERY rich soon.

Three points:

1. George Harrison mortgaging his house to fund 'Life of Brian' was a business decision, effectively the same as all others.

2. Macca? It's his money. He's earned it, and ultimately he's free to do with it whatever he pleases without any obligation.

3. Please think for a while over the "C'mon, pal, you're loaded....hand it over" idealism you seemingly subscribe to, especially regarding charity.

Well, Macca DID fund the Liverpool Institute for Perfoming Arts (A Scouse Fame-style school) and also funded the redevelopment of The Cavern Club. I do know Linda used to give monies to Animal sanctuaries for years before she died. As Last Word pointed out, it is HIS cash, I know I wouldnt like to be told what to spend mine on.............which is why my bank manager and I differ a lot.

I totally agree theres only so much you need, regardless of how you earned it. I KNOW if I won silly amounts, say ?10m+ on the lottery, I would give ?8.5m+ away. I KNOW I would. I REALLY wish I could win it and prove the point.

Money, it's a gas

If we're talking about people with fortunes, and what they could do with their money, what about a certain Mr W. Gates? With his billions, he could put a fresh water supply into every village in Africa and not miss the dosh. But as Ace pointed out, it's his money to do with what he will. The fact that he doesn't says something about those who acquire wealth. But is he any worse than the types who spend tens of millions of pounds on artwork?

Incidentally, the Scottish Parliament---originally thought to cost about ?40 million---is going to cost ?400 million. All for the sake of the comfort and security of our MSPs. Now divide that figure by Scotland's five million population, and think of the good that could have been done to the impoverished people and areas up here?

Bob Dylan (someone who hasn't done anything worthwhile since about 1976) was right: Money doesn't talk, it swears.
