Loads of companies don't sell to DVD anyways.

So http://www.pureplaymedia.com no longer handle US DVD distribution?

I also understand that PRIVATE no longer distribute Blue Bird dvd's in Europe?

Am surprised that a studio the size of Blue Bird are (so it seems) turning away from direct retail, particularly with with mega budget releases like "Bat Fucks" and "Bonnie and Clide" on the horizon.

What you say is quite true, but from looking at the low Alexa traffic stats I would say that they should perhaps consider an affiliate scheme. All the other major (and minor) players use affiliates to draw traffic towards their online sales.

Again, very true. But the major studios Bluebird compete with do sell DVD's.

And it does seem strange since Hiwatt has previously mentioned that Bluebird DVD's are consistently in the top 10 best selling adult retail DVD lists in Europe and the US, now we see the change of sales methods towards "web only".

@paulpaul Yes, I understand the market is moving from packaged media, but it is still a major part of the adult industry, as has been made clear by everyone asking for release dates on our DVDs.

@ECG1 We much prefer to offer our content direct to the consumer rather than involve a 3rd party. That's why the process of getting our films out to customers has been delayed. Growing pains and all that. We are creating an operation that will allow you to purchase our movies direct from us, in multiple fashions, from scratch. There will be our Online Store, where you can buy the physical disc. Also, all of these titles that we have been teasing (PASSENGER 69, BONNY & CLIDE, BAT FUCKS, etc.) will be available for direct download from our website. We are working to make both options as user-friendly as possible.

By doing it ourselves, it takes a bit longer for it to get going, but I truly believe the lack of middleman is better for the consumer in the long run.

I'm honestly not knocking you guys but i only ever see BB posting on this forum where many of the posters here are... how can i put this politely... are of the 'older generation' so your missing out on a whole new generation.
You guys spend all that $$$ but hardly anyone has heard of you. Just look at the major bigger boards.

Blimey Bobby it doesnt take that long to build a brand. You guys have spent millions ad produced tons for years now but still manage to stay under the radar (yeah we all know what you've accomplished but still no one outside of here has really heard of Blue Bird)...I think you guys might be getting confused with the blue bird logo of Twitter

Sure you've been to Vegas, and various other awards and people in the biz know you but the generla consumer doesnt recognise you as a british company in the same way as Harmony, Relish and Killergram

You know, the man onthe street who really matters and cares not for shenanigans and egos inside the porn business. The man who wants a wank but complains about poor website support. You know? That man.

As for Blue Bird taking over? Well unless they contract every girl in the UK they dont even know about who comes in through the little man I seriously dont see that happening.

I've always said the best way to get ahead is not to rely on agencies but get new girls in. Theres plenty enough out there for everyone
