First off, much as I'm one of MC's biggest fans, she was American and this post should surely be in the OT Forum.

I don't think that the obit is an indication of how mainstream porn is becoming, rather it highlights just how mainstream MC and Linda Lovelace made porn in the US in the 1970s when anyone who was anyone publicly demonstrated their interest by openly attending Through the Green Door (the uncut version of which is still officially banned in the UK by the way) and Deep Throat.

Insatiable, partly filmed in London, showed in mainstream cinemas throughout the UK, with the exception of a few towns with reactionary politicians and MC's solo appearance in Sex Surrogate at the Paul Raymond Boulevard Theatre in Soho at the time she was filming Insatiable broke a raft of taboos as well as being a brilliant and extremely intimate production.

It must have been during the filming of Insatiable that she and her husband at the time, Chuck Traynor, appeared on a UK tv chat show. He treated her like a piece of trash, telling her to shut up, insulting her, and generally being a right arse towards her. At one point she wanted to leave but he verbally slapped her down, without as I recall the interviewer interjecting.
