Why are there so Few Black Porn Stars?

I don't think that is necessarily true. The original question asked why there aren't very many black performers. If racism created a demand for interacial porn, then there would be a demand for black performers.

When it comes to hiring non-white performers, there seems to be very few black models offering their services. Why this is so, could be cultural, rather than a result of racial discrimination.

It could be the case that, on average, people in the countries in which European and American porn sells the most, find white performers more sexually attractive, than non-white performers. In which case, there would be a greater demand for white models, than for black. To be more attracted to one set of physical characteristics over another isn't an example of racism, it's a sexual preference.

Compare this with the porn on offer in Japan. They have Western porn, but there is a an obvious preference to Japanese models. If Africa, India and the Middle East produced as much porn as Europe, America and Japan, then perhaps we'd see a noticable rise in black, Asian and Middle Eastern models.

Personally, I like an ethnic mix in the porn I watch, but others seem not to. The most highly saught after performer (in terms of internet searches) is Jenna Jameson.

I see your point but I'm going to play devil's advocat. I think it is racism and if no other reason than society defines beauty as being white. Perhaps the racism isn't so much as keeping beautiful black women out of porn as it is keeping them from believing they are lovely enough to try.

Over here in the states there is A LOT of black girl/white guy vids to choose from and the interacial videos/dvd never went out of style. Seems like everytome I look up there is a new girl on the cover. We need more black dudes though. The same ones are screwing all the girls.

It seems to me that a lot of women of colour get type cast in the industry in the USA, that's one of the things I love about the UK is people shooting girls/guys of all nations for all occasions, with-out having to always play on steriotypes to sell the material.

Too often, I get put in Big Booty White Girl movies, too often Jamie Brooks gets cast in such a role... a lot of the time in the US, the black girls get cast in 'Ghetto' theamed movies, and after that most get forgotton.
Although ethnic minorities combined constitute a large percentage of the population in the UK and the USA, individualy, 'white' is still the largest group, therefore a larger pool is created from which to pluck the talent. And a larger group to sell to.

Other factors may include, that also, although there are a large number of young people of colour who were born and bred here in the UK/ or USA, their parents/grandparents may have migrated here from countries where culture and beliefs are very different, creating a more difficult experience in entering the industry.

I would love to see more 'suprise' interracial, in the scence that the movie wasn't theamed as interracial, but there were mixes of nationalities all together.

It might be a stereotype. No, it is a stereotype. I don't agree with it either but sadly it's being put in a catagory is what makes it easier to buy what you want i.e all black, all white, interacial,(black and white) big butt white girls(black dudes love these) ghetto booty what have you. In the states at least all you have to do is go in an adult book store and the clerk will point you in the right section. But then again that's the westcoast for you. That's where a great majority of our porn is coming from. The eastcoast porn is mostly black with some latino in the mix. Where we got it from, we know and where we are headed, I don't know but these people who are white surely knew how to exploit it and a few black producers now are coping(I meant it like I typed it) what they're doing which is REALLY what's keeping this so-many dollars a year business going!

There's alot of black women in porn in the states. Black on black, white on black, there's enough of it here. Like I said before, everytime you see a cover, it's somebody new.

In the U.S., there are plenty of black actresses, but demand is low. I get DVD's from a pro reviewer (comped to him), & his constant complaint is that he can hardly give away black product.Even black males want to see white chicks, from what I see visiting retail porn outlets."Adam Film World" does publish a black annual every year, so there is some demand, but how great, I dunno. Asian girls are in more demand, & also latinas, but the "corn-fed Midwestern WASP" look is still No. 1 by a bullet.

I agree. Coming from the hood though, black on black porn sells even on the bootleg market, but I guess black men who don't venture outside the "hood" which is a LOT of them they would buy them to see white girls especialy if it's black men on white girls and if it's big booty white girls. Where I live it's a mix of mexican and black with a speckle of whites in certain places and mexican men may try to get some black stuff and black men don't have a chance with mexican women but white girls are not a problem if they live in a mostly black hood.
