A question for the viewers....

Post by Alexis Silver »

Hello to all of you who watch and indeed enjoy the work we do for you :)

I was wondering if I may ask a question to get various points of view on a certain subject. (I'm sorry if this has already been asked, but hey!!).

Basically, what I need to to know is, does it really spoil your viewing pleasure if condoms are used? I ask because I'm debating whether to make any shoots that are produced for my site condom only.

From my ponit of view, (and I'm fairly sure other performers too), it really would be better if condoms were used thereby lessening the risk of infection (please note, I say lessen not illiminate!!!), thus cutting down on the totally fucked up point of view that "Kandi" seems to follow that the adult industry is responsible for the spread of HIV & STI's, but also hundreds of pounds out of our pockets each month on testing.

I'd really appreciate your thoughts on this.....

Alexis xxxx

PS I've had a drink (or 5, or is that 8?!?) so if there are spelling errors, do please forgive me!!

Alexis, it doesn't spoil my pleasure and I would play safe and stick to condoms if I were you.

I'd much rather the performers were as safe as they can be. Anyone who complains that someone protecting themself is spoiling their enjoyment is a complete selfish arsehole, imho.

I should add one last thing!

I would still always get tested as condoms aren't infallible but I'm sure you get the general picture!

(Saying that, I guess the subject of saving money on tests becomes moot!! Ah well, did warn you all I was drunk!!).

Makes no odds to me as a consumer, in fact can make some scenes more real.

Condoms used in context is fine. Real Punting is about sex with genuine escorts therefore wearing a condom is a reality part of this. The other part is that some escorts do offer "condom without" for cumshots as the series has educated even me.

In some aspects of porn, wearing condoms do detract from the viewing pleasure. One couple contacted me recently saying they want to use condoms and that I would have to pay extra without, leaving me to question their sincerity as a couple.

Its a choice and I think people will have to respect your decision. If its for your site, you can do what ever you want to do. I'm just not sure how the punters would see it in general. A few opinions here isn't really going to help much at all. Everyone has an opinion but will they put their own money on it for appeal?

Remember in a fantasy, no one wears condoms and have the most wildest of (risk taking) sex and in the real world, people with sense do.

As Rocco put it, part of his job is to take a risk in the name of entertainment and making money ... there are ups and downs (literally in porn) to every profession ... and if you want to play it safe (or safer), then don't be a porn star. People by-and-large don't like to see condoms as ithey are huge turn off and to be honest the average punter doesn't give a second thought to the stars safety when watching a scene.

I'm with the majority - do what you feel safe with.

You can buy skin coloured/pink condoms which imho don't really detract from the "action"

nachovx - how do you know 'people by-and-large don't like to see condoms as they are huge turn off'?
In the past I've heard this claim made by several people in the industry, but I don't know where this view comes from...
If there's up-to-date evidence, it'd be interesting... but I wonder if today's porn-buying public might not be as turned-off by this as may have been the case previously...
