Ok...
Who's got the money to open real studios.. I'm talking about taking over a warehouse size building. Then they would need to have sound proofed studios inside, props, clothing etc. which could then be hired by producers.
Imagine one place where everyone could film.. Imagine the cost to set that up...
Unfortunately.. That money doesn't exist in the UK.. Till then we will carry on as we are... Using homes and hotel rooms
And you wonder why UK porn is so bad..

If foreign investors won't touch the UK because the laws make it impossible to get a return on the investment then why should domestic investors behave any differently?
I don't understand this idea that everyone should get together somehow to create an industry. Every other industry builds itself by competition among its members so that the good survive and the rest die. If that hasn't worked for the British porn industry then see para 1.

Sorry Fevrd, I must have miss read your post?.
?so the good survive and the bad die?
so what your saying is that you think the likes of David Sullivan and his type, who are at the top of the industry, are the good and the likes of the small producer who is trying to create something new and different is the bad, who you would be happy to see go out of business, because that?s what it seems your saying.
It?s not a case of giving someone a free ride just because they think they would like to have a stab at making a porn film..
Its about people getting together to pull recourses and develop new ideas without having to worry about whether it?s going to work or not because it?s not going to cost a fortune to try it out and see what happens.
it seems that many people in the UK industry bleat on about the lack of money in the industry but as soon as someone puts forward an idea about how to reduce the costs and encourage new talent in to the business they just flat out reject it.
Heaven forbid, but you could almost be forgiven for thinking that certain people in the industry don?t want any new producers and directors with new a fresh ideaas to come in and break up their happy little gang.. even if this means that the UK industry is the worse for it.

Re: And you wonder why UK porn is so bad..
I feel I should arbitrate here and in defence of Fevrd, whom I know and is a damn good chap. I think you misunderstood his post but can understand why.
?so the good survive and the bad die?
"so what your saying is that you think the likes of David Sullivan and his type, who are at the top of the industry, are the good and the likes of the small producer who is trying to create something new and different is the bad, who you would be happy to see go out of business, because that?s what it seems your saying."
If I understand Fevrd well, he is in exactly the same position as a lot of new comers. I understood his message as those with consistent work will make a living and those who clearly make "bad" (subjective to the individual) porn will not last.
"Its about people getting together to pull recourses and develop new ideas without having to worry about whether it?s going to work or not because it?s not going to cost a fortune to try it out and see what happens."
Ah, if only this were so. The reality is a lot different. But some of us are trying to make a difference. Your just not hearing about it on here
"it seems that many people in the UK industry bleat on about the lack of money in the industry but as soon as someone puts forward an idea about how to reduce the costs and encourage new talent in to the business they just flat out reject it"
The porn community in part or whole is a very distrustful, jaded community through its dealings with the media who have misrepresented us in the past. Not to mention the occasional back stabbing, thieving and deceit that makes up the tapestry in this business, not to mention the general image people on the outside have of us in the inside. I would say the porn community has good reason to feel it has to protect itself. Trust and respect is not an easy thing to earn in this industry and as a whole, I admit, we still have quite some way to go. But I see good signs: The BGAFD parties where fans mix with the industry, Festival Erotique and even Erotica as good platforms to melt the icy veneer of this industry. I quote these as examples of positivity where people can recognise the industry in a more positve and professional light

I know what you mean, but its just cynical to imagine the whole business is like this. The problem as we've stressed so many times before is limitations and funding have made a lot of people produce mostly similar things. For instance, one person produces a dogging series, then a whole slew of people get the idea to do it and dilute the market with the similar product. There's still a lot of areas that havent been dealt with yet but I doubt many people will be brazen to dabble with the bi and gay market Everyone (myself included) is using the same models and mixing and matching them with the same performers doing the same thing...But things are happening as I write this. Be positive. The world is not a bad place...and worth defending, nor is this industry. Just some people we have to deal with are transparent, but some can't see it....And no, I would never appear on Trisha.

Re: And you wonder why UK porn is so bad..
One eyed jack,
as always I enjoyed reading your post and (without trying to sound like a total sycophant) was hoping that you would join the thread a some point, bit surprised it was at five in the morning though, you porn lot must be hard workers indeed in you have to get up this early.
With regards to Fevrd, I have read his posts before and knew straight away that he was not advocating the type of scenario that I wrote but was just a little bit ticked off by the total lack of enthusiasm for embracing the idea of helping each other out.
As you said, it would be a great thing if as an industry there was the freedom to test out new ideas and develop new and original content and as I implied in my first post, I?m sure that you of all people would be able take advantage of this and really change things around and I wish the ?some of us? all the luck in the world.
On an end note, thank you for you kind and what I would like to think, heartfelt words about being positive, I have always been positive about the UK porn industry and especially because I?m ?positive? that once things do change for the better we will be able to produce the world leading quality of porn that I?m 100% sure we can.
On an end end note, I particularly liked your last line ?Just some people we have to deal with are transparent, but some can't see it....? and yes I agree with you, you shouldn?t go on Trisha, you should stick to your guns and hold out for when Silk makes a return..

Re: And you wonder why UK porn is so bad..
As I keep telling everyone - THE WRONG PEOPLE ARE MAKING ALL THE MONEY IN THIS GAME!
Re: And you wonder why UK porn is so bad..
Hi Guys
Its not new people coming into the industry that have stole our work/ideas etc so yes we do try to help as many people we can, some don't have the money or the resourses to get a film off the ground but put a few heads together with a bit of bartering & we can churn out films to match any in Britain. Our films sell because they are real & not planned/acted, this is why we don't make loads of them as they are things we wanted to do anyway.
Weve found foreign companies to be money grabbing stingy b*****ds so we advise newbies to sell here where they might just get their money back if lucky. We have a list of producers like us who like us are skint that do this for the love of it & then you'll get the big rich companies which mass produce a shit product with lots of expensive advertising which the average joe on the street as just started to wise up to at last. Decent U.K. porn started in the backstreets & nothings really changed.
Porn is like art with its extremes so to try get it right for everyone is impossible.

Re: And you wonder why UK porn is so bad..
I don't recon its that bad, ok we don't have a PRIVATE yet but Harmony look like they are up for a stab at it, Relish are trying to created mini movies with a few quid thrown in they look ok, they have humour and that is typical British, just like Wayne and Kenny used to shoot. Terry is doing his own thing and sorting distribution out. (I think Trisha is in his clan).
David Sullivan like him or dislike him he may have took millions out of the industry and the punters but how much has he put back in license fee's and court cases. You don't like him but you needed him it takes someone with his marketing talent and balls to take on the law.
Last night we signed the biggest deal yet to provide 50 channels of porn for Broadband TV and today we start the work on putting them together. The deals are out there but very few UK producers or companies go and find them, ask Marino how hard it is tramping round Vegas trying to get a deal. I took stands at all the major shows or I shot them on vid & stills so I could learn about their markets, I have a stand at Vegas this year more expense 900 quid for 2 flights hotel/car/stand/staff you have to put this commitment in otherwise the bottom rung of the ladder is where you will stay. As for investment do deals plenty people around who want to put money into porn just choose one with some business skills and make a great presentation. I get people e-mailing me every week asking for advise on setting up a porn production company, when I tell them they will need around 200,000 to start and guarantee the success of their products they alway then tell me they have a palm-corder and 200 quid to spend.....So as far as I am conserned unless you have that kind of backing then Fuck Off and work for someone else in the industry cleaning vibro's or moving lights, learn the game first, I did so did Ben, Marino, Terry, PK, I could go on but whats the point. There will always be Professionals and Amatuers just right now the amatuers are complaining the professional market is to hard in stead of working out how to light a scene and keep it in focus. I also think claiming it's my style is a bit of a piss poor excuse.
