until there is a fundemental change in the law concerning where R18's can be sold from none whatsoever - I guess a sex shop could in theory offer rentals but Im not sure what the legal implications would be as there are no rental licences for porn DVDs as far as Im aware.

Im sure the american video rental chain (without mentioning names ) is quite happy to rent out soft porn ie: 18
If hard core R18 was made legal to rent from their stores then who knows I guess if they make a profit they would .
However there are quite a few licensed shops who take R18 dvds back they have sold in part exchange for another title so i guess this is similar to renting except all the profits on this occasion go to the shop.

Here in NZ where the censorship seems pretty similar to the UK many video hire shops do have an adult section. Rental is pretty cheap, older titles can be as little as NZ$10 (GBP4) for 5 titles for 7 days.
