I went to a Manchester Market yesterday and found a stall, which sold new pirated adult films for ?10 each. Why such a huge demand? Because people won?t go to a sex shop because of the embarrassment and it cant be purchased off the internet. The R18 postal rule will drive everything underground and worst of all make these bastard pirates ruin the adult film industry. The trade in pirate adult films has never been so good I was told because of the internet ban. It's not an industry i feel that will benefit from such a strange rule. One thing I can say positive about America is you can not buy a pirate porn video no matter how much you try. It?s impossible because the real thing is so freely available. That's why it?s so lucrative. Not because there's a massive choice, because you can buy them in supermarkets, video stores, hotels, book stores etc. My advice to anyone in the industry is start demanding action on this stupid R18 rule!!.
In any case, thanks for reading my rant and never go to america!!!! The porn isn't that good!!!!
Video Pirates
Re: Video Pirates
I agree with you that the authorities don't come down on video pirates like they should & think they find it easier to make examples of internet companies, there's someone operating down here in Essex who has ads in every local newspaper. He came into my friends shop to tell him he could sell his films (pirates) for ?5 so he might as well close his shop, on going to his M.P. my friend found out T/S didn't have the manpower to shut this bloke down & even with two more meetings with his M.P. this pirate operates quite freely still advertising in the papers.
The Essex newspaper chain have been told of this wrong doings yet they still take money for his ads, if you see anyone selling films like this VideoDave just say your T/S & you'll be amazed how many he'll let you take for free.
I also agree that video pirates are now having their best time in 10 yrs selling films etc. because of loop holes in the law, perhaps the BGAFD forum might let us put pirates details on this site to name & shame them & work together to get them shut down.

Re: Video Pirates
You guys shopuld think yourself lucky
In OZ its estimated that 80% of video and dvds sold are sold by pirate outfits
The sad fact is as apunter you have no way of knowing even if you wanted to do the right thing becuase the authorities are so Lax
One site in OZ that I know for sure was bogus operated for 2 years without intervention-beggars belief unless you believe the government are out to destroy the industry
So you can only conclude that the authorities want porn to self destruct
cheers

Re: Video Pirates
Kim, this forum for years has helped us out with piracy, a good member on here advised me of a guy pirating our stuff in Southampton, Trading standards and local plod decended on him and closed him down, we done this legally.
Another time lighter fuel over a stand at the carboot worked just as well.
If this guy is pirating my stuff or your stuff or Marino,s, Terry's stuff lets know we will shut him down.

Re: Video Pirates
Thats good news phil but im afraid it will make very very little difference. How do you shut done a piracy market? Have you ever been to the barras in Glasgow or the main market in Manchester? i could buy any video by yourself, bendover, rude brit etc for ?10. No questions asked. Its just a drop in the ocean. You need to get rid of this R18 rule.Mark my words, in 5 years time no producer of adult material will have a pot to piss in in this country. Adult material is dying a slow painful death.
Re: Video Pirates
Hi Guys
thanks for the info, working together we should stop a lot of the pirate outlets (i hope).

Re: Video Pirates
You've hit the nail on the head. They are curently investing heavily in very aggressive anti-piracy measures for movies, music and software to protect their profits. But they don't want to protect the profits of the porn industry do they? - they'd rather it quietly dissapear I think.
Re: Video Pirates
Who is they.
Piracy is a problem for everyone, I see the guys going round the pubs with sony/MGM/Warner pirate stuff. So I don't think there is a direct answer.
Maybe the latest issues including BluePrint and the erotic expo might join a few more together and then they can get a strategy together. For my view I would douse them with petrol and burn them if it was my stuff..But as all you educated lot keep telling me thats not allowed.

Surely in this case, that isnt true, the guy at the bootsale must be selling pirates as most people who use this forum will be aware. The only way piracy would ever be eliminated is if the buyer refuses to buy them in the first place. In that way the monies made would hopefully go to the producers and actors so we can produce more etc...
