it has been brought to our attention that someone is attempting to lure forumites into posting materials to bogus addresses, with the intention of causing them trouble.
we would therefore advise anyone thinking of trading with a person they have no previous history with, to practice a reasonable degree of caution before proceeding with any swaps, sales, etc.
check out any address given to you by doing a search on the postal code at the royal mail. this will give you some indication as to the nature of the address your package is heading to. by that we mean whether it is residential or non-residential (e.g. a municipal building of some sort). if no area code is given to you by the person you are hoping to deal with, don't post them anything!
some perspective: the vast majority of the transactions undertaken through this forum (an unscientific guess would put the figure at around 99%) are concluded satisfactorily. if it were otherwise, we would certainly get to hear about it and so would you.
