Usually time is at a premium and you need to get shots set-up quickly ... and get the same lighting as last time ... or copy something ...

I use a Mac with FinalCut ... Flip4Mac is what you need to go with it

I've been using a minolta V for years ... a hand held meter is absolutely essential for any kind of studio photography ... especially with flash heads, but even for tungsten .... you have to know what each light is giving you :) http://ca.konicaminolta.com/products/consumer/camera-pus/slr/acc/acc ...
