Maurice arrives in Montréal where a girl gives him a lift. After spending a tender moment under the trees by the side of the road, she leaves him penniless. A helpful Canadian guy takes him to a strip-tease joint. The following day, Maurice meets Lola (and falls desperately in love with her) and Douglas who finds him a job and shows him the way to behave with girls. But Maurice is not really gifted at that. Then he learns that a teenager who was in love with him has attempted to commit suicide. He finally rescues her from a trunk floating on the St. Lawrence river.
